As members of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints we are concerned for their children's spiritual training and character development as well as their social and academic welfare. Many Christian families' home school because the Spirit has told them that learning at home is the Lord's will for their children. We are one of those families.   We believe that all things are spiritual before the Lord especially in the pursuit of truth or knowledge.
"Wherefore, verily I say unto you that all things unto me are spiritual,    and not at any time have I given unto you a law which was temporal; neither any man, nor the children of men; neither Adam, your father, whom I created." D&C 29:34
We believe that true learning comes only by the spirit and may occur in any life setting that the Lord directs. We view all of life as learning and not as separate issues.  We believe that education is directed by the Lord and not by the government.  We further believe that life, learning and education are all connected as one in the Lord's eyes and directed by the Lord.  We wish to convey this attitude to our children.  In essence, we feel that home learning creates the perfect environment in which to perfect the family and live the gospel.
     Specifically :
1.  Priorities of family life are reinforced in harmony with gospel teachings encompassing quality time for family and personal prayer, scripture study, journal writing and service to others.
2.  Opportunities are available to train the children in daily devotionals to the Lord including the singing of hymns, family scripture study, family prayer and family gospel study time.
3.  Children gain respect for their parents as teachers and leaders of the family and learn what their responsibilities and duties are in respect to the family through example and understanding of the scriptures.
4.  The family experiences an unusual level of unity, closeness and mutual appreciation of each other as they spend more time together and learn more about each other.
5.  Parents are enabled to provide spiritual training and present latter day scriptural perspectives in all subjects.
6.  Parents can combat destructive influences such as peer dependency, negative peer pressure and false traditions (including secular humanism, occult influences and modern scientific/historic inaccuracies). Truth can be sought without pretense.
7.  Children develop confidence and independent thinking in the security of their home and away from the pressure to conform.
8.  Friendships and communications between chilren and people of all ages is encouraged and enhanced.
9.  An educational curriculum is developed for each child to help him achieve his full potential at his own rate. Children have time to explore interests and talents they have been blessed with that could lead them to the fulfillment of their life's mission on this earth.
10.  Children have time to search, ponder, and pray and gain a more firm testimony of the gospel.
11.  Flexible scheduling accommodates work, vacation times, sickness and times of stress and allows time for other activities.
12.  A variety of college-level courses or career apprenticeships are available for study while still living at home.
